====== OC Announcements ====== //Welcome old and new roleplayers! These are out of character (OC) announcements. They include reminders about game mechanics, answers to popular questions and a few things to keep in mind while playing a Society Game in general.// ===== A Few Tips ===== * If you can’t make it to Brainstorms (i.e. sessions), please email the GMs and let us know beforehand. We will shout you out as missing during session so that PCs and NPCs may email you in downtime. You'll still be able to submit turnsheets for that turn, of course. * Please let us know if you have traded Trope cards with people, either by email or in your turnsheet. * Props for Juicetronic Devies are encouraged and can be traded, sold, given away or lent alongside one major action from the receiver to learn how to use the device. If they don't do this, the trade, sale, gift or loan will fail. * Pockets or pouches to keep your Trope Cards in are encouraged, though **please hand Trope Cards back to us at the end of session**. We need to keep a record of who has what, and we can't do that if you hang onto them. ===== Metagaming ===== Metagaming is using out of character knowledge in order to gain an in character advantage. In other words, if you use something your character doesn't know but that you //do// know in order to pretend that your character does know it. This is cheating, so please don't do it. However, issues can arise when you know things - even if you have no intention of using them to gain an advantage. It can be quite difficult to 'stonewall' knowledge your character shouldn't have, so in the interests of keeping things easy for everyone, please try and minimise this as much as you can. Sharing backstory out of character is discouraged (though very much encouraged in character!). In particular, please don't show anyone what you submitted for your turnsheets until the end of the game. A lot of the excitement of Society Games comes from not knowing who turnsheeted what and relying on people to stick to their word. Sharing them simply spoils a lot of the guesswork and is a form of metagaming. ===== Reminders and Corrections ===== * Jo is gender neutral and uses They/Them pronouns. * Overt references to real-world media are not allowed in //Work In Progress//. We assume that while the world Jo lives in goes through similar artistic and literary periods as our own, the media in their world differs. * As Muses are creative entities, they can change their superficial appearance at will, but will need to expend a major action to change their appearance for mechanical benefit (for example, to gain the Why Are You Like This? Quirk). * Trope Mining does not necessarily involve literal mining (although it can do!). Instead, it refers to going out into the Dreamscape in order to find areas of Far Dream where the same kinds of Tropes appear again and again. How you mine them depends on the Trope itself - it may involve slaying a monster, solving a puzzle or something much weirder. //Happy Roleplaying!// //-The WIP GM team//
