======= Max Volume Reached ====== {{:vignette:max_volume_reached.jpg?nolink&450|}} ===== Content Warnings ===== None. ===== Plot ===== Peony is a gifted pianist from a small town who receives a scholarship to study in the renowned music college Joliard – situated miles from her home in the big city. The college trains many musicians hailing from every genre across the board. In an effort to socialise, she joins a band called Brass Bass, a neo-classical music based group. Their no-nonsense Cellist, Clement, takes a liking to her, being her voice or reason and closest confidant when Peony goes off the rails. In contrast, the band lead Viola player, Violet – starts to despise their new member, feeling as if Peony is taking her much craved spotlight away with her interesting new age music. At an academy wide recital to showcase talents of the new students, she catches a conversation between the academy bad boy Sam, talking to this friend Darren and insulting her piece, commenting that while it was handsome at its best, it was too brash to be pleasing. From then on Peony was convinced that there was no man more disagreeable than he, and when she found out he was entering the annual battle of the bands with his own team she wanted nothing more than to go up against him, and win. She soon learns that Sam’s band, Jazzitude, has won battle of the bands two years in the row and are a favourite to win again this year, thanks to their dark angel of a singer – Terra, who’s deep and husky voice turns heads. As if that’s not enough to worry about, there’s a note in her locker from a secret admirer, telling her to meet them at midnight after the battle… Intriguing. ===== Landscape ===== New York-inspired classical music academy in a modern day, big city with skyscrapers, large roads and bustling streets. The academy has a large courtyard and multiple concert halls. Fashion is very sleek yet expressive. ===== Key Impressions ===== * **Peony**: **Playable**. A gifted but financially struggling concert trained pianist, she is funny with a sharp wit and doesn’t back down from a challenge. Her pieces tend to be explosive and capture everyone's attention - for better or worse * **Sam**: **Not Playable**. A serious saxophonist. Often comes off as cold but doesn't mean to. His pieces are technically perfect with excellent pacing, but he lacks a creativity to his work. * **Violet**: **Not Playable**. A primadonna viola player that wants to be a star and has the leading role in every song. She fights Peony to outdo her in many songs. * **Clement**: **Playable**. Peony’s closest friend in the music college and very down to Earth. Cellist for Brass Bass. Tries to convince her to stop fighting Violet or getting revenge against Sam. * **Darren**: **Playable**. Sam’s best friend, he’s the drummer of Darcy’s band Jazzitude. He’s jovial and is nice to everyone. He’s also overtly trying to ask Peony out. * **Terra**: **Playable**. Sam’s little sister with a voice of a dark angel, sounding so much older than the young woman she is, she belts out deep jazzy tunes as the lead singer of Jazzitude. ===== Scenes ===== * **1**: Peony performs an explosive and experimental piano piece at a recital attended by students from various different academies.
