We are delighted to announce that the six Muses who had previously been reported missing due to a malfunctioning Vignette by the name of Deep Lake Woods, thanks to the actions of Tek Tempest and an anonymous assistant. Although search and rescue parties had previously been dispatched to investigate the matter, they had returned unsuccessfully on a number of occasions, despite entering the Vignette. Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple report that they are eternally grateful to Tek, and are keen to hold a party to celebrate their rescue. We have reached out to Tek for comment, but have not yet received a response. The Vignette – a B-movie horror involving |
teenage murder – had become stuck in a never-ending loop, in which the deaths of the characters did not eject the participating Muses as would ordinarily be expected, but instead resulted in the scenario being reset, to play out over and over. It is not clear how aware the Muses were of their predicament, though it is believed that some information was able to pass through iterations. Although initially suspected to be malfunctioning, the Vignette did in fact require the characters to die in a particular order corresponding to the first letter of their names, spelling the word TRICK; though it is suspected that other, hidden messages lie behind the order. At this stage, nothing further has been confirmed. |
The winner of this round of the Brainstorm competition under the theme of tragedy is… Descent/Ascent, a compilation from parts of two related Vignettes. Congratulations to those Muses involved. Jacqueline continues to be delighted to be involved in this wonderful work, and says she is learning so much from all you talented Muses out there. I’m sure you know the rules by now: a Vignette or portion thereof, |
with Jacqueline taking one of the prominent roles, and fitting the theme of the round. Prizes this time, however, shall be a Rank II Trope card for each of the winners. And of course this round’s theme is: sacrifice. I hope you continue to show Jacqueline just how creative we Muses can be! Patricia d’Arte |
Furious TornadoesA plague of tiny furious tornadoes descended upon Spindle last tuesday, attacking numerous civilians and causing property damage. Eye-witness reports indicate that these swirling masses of cloud, only a metre in size, are likely to have some unidentified solid pointy thing at the centre. Due to the diligent work of our loyal Inquisitives, the problem was quickly resolved, but anyone with information relating to this incident is urged to come forwards. Vicious Assault on the AcademyA vicious and unprovoked assault was made on several Academy Inquisitives just outside Spindle in the last week. The Free Idea Forum is suspected to be behind this savage display of violence. Citizens are asked forward with information on this or any similarly planned attack, and to remain, as always, vigilant for signs of dangerous Free Idea Forum activity. |
Squirrels Dealt WithAfter three weeks of chaos, the squirrel infestation in Spindle has been dealt with. We are now experiencing problems with lizards, however, which are believed to be even more dangerous and should also not be approached. You should particularly not be tipping the lizards, no matter how much they pester you to. |
Ain't no Party like an Academy PartyThe party hosted by Inquisitive Praefectus Prince Archibald Richmond Rutherford du Octavio the Third was a roaring success, featuring the one-time duo Hope in the Darkness. Revelers commented that “[the party] was the best I have been to in many years”, and “Parrtt-tteeeeeyyyyy”. We are pleased to award the party the first ever Just the Facts: Social Event of the Year award. |
Exhibition CornerPatricia d’Arte’s new exhibition has received many positive reviews in its first week, featuring a number of self-portraits of Patricia herself. A must-see for fans and art connoisseurs alike. Descent/Ascent, the winner of the Pure Inspiration theme competition, is now also on display. |
We would like to remind everyone that the memeification ban on the use of all Tropes relating to themes of freedom and self-determination remains in effect. The Academy asks all law-abiding citizens for their continued support in our effort to combat the memeification threat. Any information on the origin of the phrase and the Muse(s) responsible will be greatly rewarded. Any |
attempts to spread the memeification further will be dealt with harshly. Our efforts have been fruitful and we are glad to inform you that the memeification alert on coffee has been rescinded, although caution is still advised. Citizens, remain vigilant. |
