===== Content Warnings =====

  * **Discrimination on the basis of nationality, religion or faith**.
    * Certain members of each sentient race may discriminate against other sentient races, and may not respect their religions or faiths. All religions and faiths depicted are fictionla.

    * Conflict between the sentient races involved may result in severe injuries or deaths. Descriptions will not be overly graphic.

    * Threats of large-scale violence against any of the sentient races may be made. Any actual depiction of these events (beyond the destruction of individual ships) is outside the scope of this Vignette.

===== Plot =====

Captain Erica Forthwright is the captain of the Earth Alliance Starship //Odyssey//. The //Odyssey// is a flagship of the Earth Alliance, its current mission one of exploration on the fringes of known space. While passing close to the border between two known sentient alien races - the Skraw and the Imm - the Odyssey picks up a distress call from a Skraw cargo vessel which has come under attack from an Imm cruiser. The Skraw are allies of the Earth Alliance, while the Imm are not and are known to be aggressively territorial. While the Skraw ship is close to the border, they are very much on their own side of it which means the Imm are also trespassing. Captain Forthwright and the crew of the //Odyssey// see no choice but to intervene to defend the Skraw, but things might not be as clear cut as they at first seemed...

===== Landscape =====

The Vignette takes place in space, aboard the ships involved in the conflict. The setting is the far future, so a variety of futuristic technologies are common such as faster-than-light travel, energy weapons and universal translators. As a flagship of the fleet, the //Odyssey// is spacious and well-maintained.

The Skraw are a humanoid species with bird-like attributes such as a beak and wings. The Imm are insect- or arthropod-like, with multiple sets of limbs and thick exoskeletons.

  * **Graal-Farrow**: <color red>**Not Playable**</color>. Captain of the Imm battleship.

  * The **bridge crew** and **division heads** (e.g. Chief Engineer, Ship's Doctor) of the //Odyssey// are currently un-named but are <color blue>**Playable**</color> as Key Impressions.

===== Scenes =====

  * **1**: The EAS //Odyssey// picks up a distress call. Upon investigation, they find a Skraw cargo ship under assault from an Imm cruiser.

  * **2**: After an intense fight, the Imm cruiser is destroyed. The //Odyssey// takes minor damage. Repairs begin on the Skraw cargo ship.

  * **3**: An Imm battleship arrives. The Imm are nearly incoherent with rage and open fire on the //Odyssey// while the repair crew races to finish repairs on the Skraw ship.

  * **4**: The Skraw ship's engines are repaired and it manages to jump away while the //Odyssey// defends them from the Imm. The //Odyssey// is outgunned and is forced to flee soon after, enduring heavy casualties.

  * **5**: The //Odyssey// docks for repairs at an Earth Alliance space station. They are informed that diplomatic relations with the Imm have deteriorated and the threat of war looms on the horizon.
