This is a list of all characters currently in the game, and contains information about who they are and how to contact them.
Email: ai@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
Bubbly and talkative, never without their goggles. Always excited to explain the new tech that's been created. They don't spend much time in Spindle, prefering to go on as many Vignettes and expeditions as possible. when around they do spend a lot of time in the NFWS, and do not have many close friends, although they have a passing friendship with most people at NFWS.
OC Pronouns: They/Them
IC Pronouns: They/Them
Email: bet_wimpole@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
Older Muses might remember Bet Wimpole from the brief half-year she existed as a very influential, very bubbly and excitable, Muse dedicated to Victorian literature and all its trappings. Then she suffered from a loss of Creative Juice and retreated into obscurity. You probably assumed she Faded long ago. Even if you did know she was still around, you would know her to be a sickly-looking recluse desperately hanging on to existence. Thus it is a bit of a shock that she has suddenly emerged now…
OC Pronouns: She/Her
IC Pronouns: She/Her
Email: blake_skye@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
As an explorer for the NFWS, Blake Skye loves exploring Vignettes and the Further Reaches of Dream. He's liked by a number of people, but some speculate that he has a past he would rather keep buried.
OC Pronouns: He/Him
IC Pronouns: He/Him
Email: brink@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
“I do not plan to make this easy for you. Before we are done you will know what folly it was to stand against me!”
Brink is a Muse with a worrying tendency to play the villain wherever such a thing is reasonable (and sometimes when it really isn't.) When not playing a part, they are known as a competent explorer, although even then they tend to have something of an ominous air to them.
OC Pronouns: He/Him or They/Them
IC Pronouns: They/Them
Email: cyrus@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
Cyrus is an Inquisitive Praefectus at the Academy of Thought. Known as a stickler for the rules but not an unpleasant person to be around, he simply believes that laws exist to be followed. He is a work partner of Prince Archibald Richmond Rutherford du Octavio the Third, together they track muses who are especially corrupting to the Muse society. He seems to truly believe in the ideals of the Academy of Thought and that it exists for the betterment of the Muse society as a whole.
OC Pronouns: He/Him
IC Pronouns: He/Him
Email: dave_from_finance@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
Dave… from Finance is almost always behind his desk, working on a new set of meaningless paperwork from his superiors, as he continues to manage the logistics of the transportation of Tropes. He stares intently at his managers or co-workers when receiving instructions, or when partaking in the inefficient task of socialising, with dark eyes and only a hint of an expression ever playing upon his face. Unless someone needs his expertise within this area its best to leave Dave alone. After all, he is just Dave… from Finance.
OC Pronouns: He/Him
IC Pronouns: He/Him
Email: finn_der@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
Finn Der is young & idealistic, ready to take on the world and learn all the shit. Just, all of it. They're constantly out on jobs, only stopping by to drop off his biggest finds and share his ideas with the world.
Finn is very interested in how things work, and thus will study one thing/area for way too long. Their plans sometimes (often) go awry, with interesting consequences. This tends to be due to his focusing on one aspect of a situation without thinking about the ramifications.
OC Pronouns: Any, with a slight preference against She/Her
IC Pronouns: He/Him or They/Them
Email: herbert_horatio_iii@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
Herbert Horatio III, or as he is more commonly called H is not often seen around Spindle. If you happen to catch him between vignette adventures, he has some of the best stories to tell.
OC Pronouns: She/Her
IC Pronouns: He/Him
Email: idk@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
There are plenty of ways that one could describe IDK: Extravagant. Bombastic. Devoted. Chaotic. Often seen retelling their adventures with NFWS at Food for Thought, IDK has been around for as long as most Muses can remember, and it is a token of how good of a friend they can be that no-one has yet tried to murder them out of annoyance.
OC Pronouns: She/Her
IC Pronouns: They/Them
Email: joseph_caesar@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
Joseph Caesar is a fringe member of the Academy of Thought, with a cult following of those who believe his ideas to be those that will save the Dreamscape. However, the unmistakable mark of the stamp of Censorship remains upon him, and those outside of his inner circle treat him with wariness or contempt, depending on their disposition. Whilst he continues to diligently do his work at the Academy, and is effective and competent, he is one of the examples those who hate the Academy frequently cite to justify their suspicions of unwanted control and stifling of creativity.
OC Pronouns: He/Him
IC Pronouns: He/Him
Email: long-tongued_jack@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
It's hard to get a handle on Long-Tongued Jack, whose earns his epithet in a grotesquely literal way and yet is also charming-tongued, and an excellent listener. He dresses strangely, combining a Medieval hood (somewhere between a monk and a peasant's) with sunglasses which he seems to think are still the height of cool. He can often be found in Food For Thought, more often as a patron but sometimes working as a server, but he also makes frequent journeys into Vignettes and Far Dream. He's always willing to exchange ideas or listen to other people’s troubles, though he spends comparatively little time talking about his own life. Some people think his manner belies the heart of a dangerous trickster, while those who’ve been in Vignettes with him point out his striking compassion for Impressions.
OC Pronouns: He/Him
IC Pronouns: He/Him
Email: lorem_ipsum@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
Lorem Ipsum is a Curator at Pure Inspiration. She’s well used to the rigorous (and often tiring) process of analysing displays; after all, as a Muse of Pattern, she is proficient at seeking out when a submission doesn’t quite fit in, or when a well-placed Trope card doesn’t quite give the right message.
Despite her commitment to work, she doesn’t spend all her time scrutinising other Muses art pieces: she is also one of the few Curators to traverse Vignettes to submit inspiring scenes and to try out creative uses of Trope cards. It’s Lorem’s favourite pastime to get her out of her workplace at the Exhibition Hall (even if it’s only for a short time…).
OC Pronouns: She/Her
IC Pronouns: She/Her
Email: mister_sir@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
Mister Sir is an employee of the Sell-Out Syndicate, who is supposely in charge of the department of Trope acquisition and quantisation and also of the addition division, athough due to his incompetence, one would be forgiven for not realising so.
OC Pronouns: He/Him
IC Pronouns: He/Him
Email: morgana_shadestalker@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
Mysterious, unsettling and always slightly damp, Morgana is often found lurking in the darkest corners of Spindle and the wildest outreaches of Far Dream.
OC Pronouns: She/Her
IC Pronouns: She/Her
Email: morta_bord@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
Morta is a fairly new member of the Academy of Thought, but appears to have earned himself an early promotion. On the rare occasions he is seen outside the Academy, he often appears busy or in a hurry, constantly working on some task or another.
More recently, people have reported seeing him around Hub more often, and a rumour has started that he’s been seen leaving Vignettes looking rather more worried than usual…
OC Pronouns: Xe/Xem
IC Pronouns: He/Him
Email: porphyrius_noise@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
Porphyrius is an iconoclastic and often abrasive artiste, whose ideas are enigmatic as she is forbidding. She is most often seen with her sister Amoretta in the Exhibition Hall.
OC Pronouns: She/Her
IC Pronouns: She/Her
Email: prince_archibald_richmond_rutherford_du_octavio_the_third@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
Prince Archibald Richmond Rutherford du Octavio the Third is an AMAZING Inquisitive Praefectus in the Academy of Thought who loves nothing more than enforcing JUSTICE on those who would perform evil acts! He always follows and enforces the law along with his partner in crime fighting Cyrus, and his (sort of) plucky assistant, Shine Ever Brighter.
OC Pronouns: He/Him
IC Pronouns: He/Him
Email: prof_bismuth_silver@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
Prof. Bismuth is well liked by those who attend his lectures for his charismatic presenting style, and habit of bringing biscuits for all who attend. As a result, most refer to him by the affectionate titles of 'Teach' or 'Prof'. The Prof is a bit of a silver fox (or so he likes to think). He has recently transferred from education to exploration, but still wears his mismatched lecturing suits out in the field.
OC Pronouns: He/Him
IC Pronouns: He/Him
Email: retconnor@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
A pompous field researcher for NFWS with a history of using their power to meddle in Vignettes. As a History Idealist, they are particularly concerned with the past and like to try to change it, or at least other's perceptions of it.
OC Pronouns: He/Him
IC Pronouns: They/Them
Email: tek_tempest@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
A longtime student of the Nightmare Fuel Weather Station, although a student is what she will remain if she continues to struggle with the increasingly complex machinery of the labs. You can usually find her hanging around near (or as near as possible to) the Juice Battery. Ask her about her glasses.
OC Pronouns: She/Her
IC Pronouns: She/Her
Email: that_shady_guy@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
“Hey kid, you wanna buy some tropes?”
“I seriously don't know how That Shady Guy isn't censored anymore, I mean, he's got to be trading illegal Tropes. I bet he's one of those Free Idea folks.”
“I thought he was just a Sell-Out?”
“What? Oh, no, you're thinking of That Shifty Guy.”
“There's two of them?!”
Conversation overheard in Spindle.
OC Pronouns: They/Them (or Any)
IC Pronouns: He/Him or They/Them
Email: thinkpiece@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
Thinkpiece is a Server at the Food For Thought, preparing delicious thoughts with a side of helpful information, and, when you need it, personal advice.

IC Pronouns: They/Them
Email: twist@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
“Why would Mach suits not be perfectly suitable as ballet uniforms? I do not know what you are complaining about. Yes, I remember the accident at the end, but that entire Vignette would have ended sooo boring if I did not help. Now it at least turned out fun, and Jo really noticed you guys. You are welcome!”
Conversation overheard between some angry Impressions and Twist.
OC Pronouns: He/Him
IC Pronouns: Any
Email: victoria_hugh-beaumont@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
A small time Muse with delusions of grandeur, Victoria Hugh-Beaumont mostly just hangs around Food for Thought gossiping and telling anyone who will listen about her dumb shipping plans: Muses, Impressions, anything goes. She insists her storytelling is going to make her a big name with Pure Inspiration someday, but so far that just seems like a pipe dream.
OC Pronouns: They/Them
IC Pronouns: She/Her
This is a list of all characters that have either retired, or have died or otherwise become unplayable.
Email: amoretta_noise@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
Amoretta Noise is a revered and formidable curator of fine art, with a charming, if somewhat intimidating, demeanour. She plays handler and interpreter to her troubled sister, Porphyria, and will go to alarming lengths to protect her. You don’t want to be on her bad side, but being on her good side is truly delicious.
OC Pronouns: She/Her
IC Pronouns: She/Her
Email: cookie_crumb@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
Cookie Crumb loves talking to new muses who come into the Café, and can empathise and help anyone out. She can have a fiery temper sometimes, but she’s usually not too serious. She is popular with regulars for her daily smile as they enter, and her tinkling laugh as they converse with her.
OC Pronouns: She/Her
IC Pronouns: She/Her
Email: hirundo@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
The spirit of the angsty teen, Hirundo has high hopes and low expectations. She’s always moody and loves to criticise; despite claiming to hate Jo TV, she never misses an episode, though she can only focus on the mistakes Jo makes. She can often be found at the back of the room, quietly observing or lost in thought.
OC Pronouns: She/Her
IC Pronouns: She/Her
Email: pluck@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
It is sometimes said that Pluck was once an adventurous type, but it is hard to believe those rumors if you meet him today, likely sitting in his dark corner of the café or enjoying some frivolous entertainment in a Vignette. Nowadays he's mostly known for his rather dreary philosophical ramblings, which are only ever listened to because they are occasionally mixed with a valuable rumor or two about the true goings-on in the Dreamscape.
OC Pronouns: He/Him
IC Pronouns: He/Him
Email: shine_ever_brighter@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
Timid, soft-spoken Shine Ever Brighter is peripheral member of Pure Inspiration whose work revolves around the aesthetic of reaching out for the purest, brightest hope. A reformed radical, she is the model rehabilitated citizen and now does frequent work with the Academy of Thought as a consultant on radical thought crimes.

IC Pronouns: She/Her
Email: speak@wip.chaosdeathfish.com
Nobody really knows where he came from, or who he really is, except that the first and only place they had ever seen Speak was at 'the Café'. Working as a servant, he has gained a small reputation among the Regulars as a dependable Muse: ask him for a little favour, and it silently gets done. Silence is the way Speak carries out his business; in fact so silent that no-one really knows the sound of his voice. After all, who need a voice in this kind of business?
