Fall Ever Faster

Holly Hill Perspective

On the other side of the door, Miss Peach and the children find themselves in a very busy office. It's the Academy of Thought, and Inquisitives rush around with important sheets of paper and carefully measured mugs of coffee.

Miss Peach describes what's happening. “The Academy of Thought were very busy dealing with the Memeifications. Lots of Muses didn't like them, and wanted to not have to follow their rules, so it was hard for them to deal with all the revolutionaries. Even some Muses within the Academy weren't sure whether they liked what it was doing.”

Miss Peach sits down at a desk beside Fall Ever Faster. “Fall was friends with people on both sides of the fight. It was hard for her to get everyone to still like her when they knew she was a friend of their enemies. She tried to make everyone think she was secretly on their side. They still didn't trust her.”

Элеонора is feeling sorry for Fall. She hugs her. Fall looks like she needs it.

Элеонора says “Don't worry fall. I trust you. I don't mind who else you're friends with.”

Fall hugs Элеонора back. She struggles to stay composed. She doesn't think crying is appropriate office behaviour.

Where Are They Now?

It’s been three months since pop-idol duo Fall Ever Faster and Shine Ever Brighter made their debut appearance at the Academy of Thought party. Or should I say re-appearance? Some of you older Muses might remember them from their early days as the living art installation Duality of Man.

Anyway, no one seems to have seen hide nor hair of them since, at least in their performative capacity, which has left this Muse has been wondering: where are they now?

After a little digging, I can reveal to you the sad and shocking truth. On the very night of the Academy party and the duo’s debut, Fall Ever Faster was brutally killed by The Revolutionary in their guise as 10 of Masks. Buried in concrete and left to Fade…what an terrifying way to go. I’ll spare you the details.

Shine, now a fully-fledged Academy Inquisitive, swore vengeance. Strong and courageous, he worked tirelessly to bring the then-revolutionaries down. We may look back and realise the flaws of the old Academy, but many of them, like Shine, were still good people, just trying to do right by Spindle. Of course, things took a turn when The Revolutionary took control of Spindle and forced the Academy underground. It took all of my journalistic skills to follow Shine’s trail through those times, but I was certain he had survived and, indeed, I was eventually led to one final event: the Battle of the Pit.

Unfortunately my investigations ground to halt at this point, as anyone who was there that day can tell you just how crowded and confusing things were around the Pit on that fateful day. It is still fairly clear that Shine never returned from the Pit, and I can only assume that Shine fought bravely to defend Dream in the name of his sister.
